Recycle your pop cans for a good cause
KCBY, Feb 15, 2011
Recycle your pop cans for a good cause this February! Teens from the Community Action Adventure program through Oregon Coast Community Action will be gathering donations of cans as a fundraiser to help support their adventure activities and service projects. Pop cans can be dropped off at the South Coast Food Share from Feb. 10 to Feb. 25. 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Teens will also be asking their friends and neighbors to save cans, and will be picking up from households that “pledge” cans on Feb. 26. It’s a great opportunity to support youth opportunities on the South Coast.
The funds raised will have a direct impact in the lives of local youth, whether it’s buying paint for a public mural, sending a South Coast teen to Washington DC to do a week of service projects, or supporting the Watershed, Dunes and Beyond summer camp, your cans can make a big difference in the lives of our communities’ youth.
“Donating to the Pop Can Drive is an easy way to help expand the horizon for our children to have the experience of a lifetime, ” said Mary Schoen-Clark, CEO of Oregon Coast Community Action. “Whether your can money goes to sending a teen to the Nation’s Capitol, or sends a teen to Summer Camp, it all helps South Coast teens thrive.”
Oregon Coast Community Action is a non-profit network of programs that help feed, house, warm and educate the communities of the South Coast. If you have questions regarding how to donate, or would like to volunteer for the fundraiser, please call (541) 888-1574 or learn more at www.orcca.us.
