Seventh Annual Oregon Tuna Classic

Oregon Coast Community Action has joined with the Seventh Annual Oregon Tuna Classic to provide food and funds to hungry families in southwestern Oregon. The Tuna Classic, to be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011 in Charleston, is an exciting, sport fishing competition with a $3,000 grand prize. The Tuna Classic donates the majority its catch of Albacore tuna to Oregon Coast Community Action’s South Coast Food Share, the regional food bank, and to the Oregon Food Bank.Participants in the Tuna Classic will do their part to help feed the hungry on the South Coast, as well as bring an economic boost to our community. These visiting competitors will stay in local hotels, eat at local restaurants and support local businesses during the event. Registration date August is 14 and the entry fee is $300.00. The late registration date is August 17 and the late entry fee $400.00The Mill Casino, the Port of Coos Bay, and other local businesses and organizations are playing a vital role in the 2011 Tuna Classic.
