South Coast Food Share is pairing up with community partners

KCBY, Dec 9, 2011

Food plays a major role during the holiday season, and Oregon Coast Community Action wants to ensure that no South Coast families find themselves hungry this winter! One of the best ways to help our community stay fed this winter is to donate money and food to one of the many food drives and fundraisers taking place this December! The South Coast Food Share is pairing up with several community partners to make sure no one has to fight hunger alone this holiday season. All food donated to the South Coast Food Share is distributed to one of our 32 partner agencies at no cost. By donating money to the South Coast Food Share, you help purchase food and pay for the cost of receiving and transporting food. Just $1 can help move up to 7 pounds of food to families in need! The following is a list of ongoing food drives in the Bay Area:• Mill Casino in North Bend will be accepting donations until December 10.
• Safeway stores in Coos Bay, North Bend, and Coquille will be accepting donations until December 26.
• Southern Oregon Regional Brokerage will be accepting donations until December 26.
• Coquille Tribal Community Center & Health Clinic will be accepting donations until December 26.
• AAA in Coos Bay will be accepting donations until December 26.
• Carson Oil Inc. in North Bend will be accepting donations until January 15.Additionally, the South Coast Food Share Virtual Food Drive is a great and convenient way for your family, community group, or business to help feed the hungry during the holidays.
