Welcome Newest Voting Member Sabin CDC!

OREGON ON THE BEAT February 5th, 2014

Oregon ON is delighted to announce our newest Voting Member, Sabin Community Development Corporation (Sabin)! Sabin has a new Executive Director as of June 2013, Mary Schoen-Clark, and this month she contacted us to rejoin!

The mission of Sabin CDC is to stabilize and improve the livability of culturally diverse Portland neighborhoods by assuring the availability of long-term affordable housing for its low and moderate income residents, and by encouraging community partnerships for local economic development, self-help projects, and youth and senior programs. Sabin CDC was formed in 1991 when a group of concerned residents of the Sabin neighborhood decided to address needs in their community. These neighbors were concerned because rapidly rising housing costs were driving out many of their longtime neighbors. This eroded the diversity of this culturally rich, mixed income neighborhood.
