Dutch Luv is in the air

KCBY, Feb 9, 2012

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and already we can feel the love, as local Dutch Bros. coffee houses prepare for their annual event, Dutch Luv.

Dutch Luv is a way for the coffee chain to give back to the community.

Bring three food/canned items to any of the Dutch Bros. in town, and get a free 16 oz. drink of your choice.

All that food will be donated to Oregon Coast Community Action.

Brad Young, owner of the three Dutch Bros. coffee houses in town tells KCBY, “I was assured this morning by the director of ORCCA that all food items will be provided to the food banks at no charge, and of course the individuals that need the food, it’s free to them as well.”

Young goes onto say, there’s another reason love is in the air. 2012 marks the 20th anniversary of the famed coffee chain.

Two dairy farmers set out with high hopes and big dreams back in 1992 on a street corner in Grants Pass, and Young believes, the Bay Area helped foster that dream.

“North Bend and Coos Bay was at the foundation of that. We started in the year 2001, so we were really on the front end of it. Now with 175 locations, our first location here was location 21 in the entire company,” explains Young.

Dutch Luv will be going on all day Tuesday, February 14th, which is also Valentine’s Day.

Young hopes to beat last year’s food haul of a little under 2,000 pounds.
